Tired of the traditional JOB? Want to be your own boss? Are you ready to start your own business?
You might be screaming “YES!”…. but since a lot of money and time are involved in a new business venture, see if you can complete this checklist first!
1. You’re excited. It’s not necessarily a good idea to start a home business simply because you’re tired of your job. But if you’re excited, and passionately believe in your idea, then you’re on the right track.
2. You’re ready to hear the word “no”. In the vast majority of cases, a home business doesn’t just take off flying from Day One. You’re going to hear the word “no” a lot in the beginning. But if you believe tenaciously in your idea, you’ll pull through and start to hear “yes”.
3. There’s a market for your product, service, or idea. All that passion for your vision is great, but make sure there’s actually a market of people who will purchase what you’re selling.
4. You made a plan. It’s almost never a good idea to leave your day job on a whim. But if you’ve actually given thought to this idea of yours, and you have a step-by-step plan to make your vision a reality, then you’re on the right track.
5. You have an idea for your brand. How do you plan to connect with your customers? It’s not enough to have a great idea; it’s how you present it that really matters.
6. You have addressed your fears. Obviously, you have to face your fear of failure. But many people also deal with a fear of success. Once you’re successful, you face higher expectations and you’re required to do more work. Are you ready?
7. Your life is ready for a big change. You have some money saved, and you aren’t in the middle of any huge changes. One big change is enough!
8. You have experience. Most of the time, it’s not a good idea to jump into a new business without any industry experience. You need to understand your products, your services, and your customers. You need to have a business mindset, you have to be an excellent time manager, and you should be ready for whatever the business world throws at you.
9. You’re okay with the risk. Your business might fail. On the other hand, it might succeed so quickly that you’re overworked, overwhelmed, and exhausted. It’s important that you’re just as ready for success as you are for failure.
